The Birchen Cochin Bantam is a stunning chicken, with its shiny black plumage set off by black and white striped neck feathers, a white head, and a bright red single comb. This breed is extremely calm and takes well to close confinement.
These traits make them excellent candidates for exhibition. The Birchen Cochin Bantam has been recognized by the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection since 1977.
The docile nature of Cochin bantams also makes them one of the most kid friendly chicken breeds. Children delight in cuddling these balls of fluff that waddle around like little Charlie Chaplains.
Cochin Bantam hens are faithful broodies and wonderful mothers.
