White Cochin Bantam

Description

The White Cochin Bantam is a gorgeous chicken, with its fluffy white plumage topped with a bright red single comb. This breed is extremely calm, making them one of the most popular kid friendly chickens. They also do well in close confinement, making them perfect for the backyard with limited space.

Their calm temperament and tolerance to confinement also gives these chickens an advantage in the showroom. The White Cochin Bantam variety was first recognized by the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection in 1874.

With their characteristic round shape, small size, and heavily feathered legs, these little birds don’t move fast. They therefore require a protective environment against predators. On the other hand, their dense feathering makes them especially cold hardy.
